Subsystem for Remote Sale of Medicinal Products subject to Medical Prescription and Medical Aids

Subsystem for remote sale of medicinal products subject to medical prescription and medical aids (NPRVP IS) is a subsystem of the ESPBI IS for initiation of remote sale of medicinal products subject to medical prescription and/or medical aids after the patient has assessed the conditions of sale, prices, premiums and assortment offered by market participants, and after the list of preferred medicinal products/medical aids has been formed and transferred to the selected online pharmacy for dispensing.

Previously, it was not possible to dispense e-prescriptions issued in Lithuania remotely; however, the creation of the NPRVP IS enabled the population to buy the prescribed medicinal products and/or medical aids remotely in a convenient way without leaving their homes, ensuring the security of their personal data and allowing to compare the prices of medicinal products offered by different remote pharmacies in a single place, as well as to compare the attractiveness of activities related to the remote sale of medicinal products (duration of supply of the pharmaceutical service, methods of its provision, delivery). Remote sale of medicinal products subject to medical prescription is regulated and implemented in the ESPBI IS and on the IS side of the major Lithuanian pharmacies, which would allow such sales.
